Overall Job Purpose

Ensuring that all rigging and lifting activities are planned and executed as per the requirements of the relevant Procedures and rigging personnel are well versed to these, to promote a good understanding of Working Procedures, International Standards and Safe & Sound practices pertaining to lifting gears/equipment and cranes.

Lead and provide interface between core Supervisory staff and contract rigging and lifting crew for routine but diverse rigging duties as part of general maintenance program onboard the FPSO on all Assets.

  • § As required, Plan, supervise and execute heavy and critical lifts as deemed by the critical lift plan(s).
  • § Supervise the Lifting activities performed any Contractor personnel at facilities as advised by O&M team.

Facilitate the risk assessment meeting with the respective supervisors, and address the risks identified by the Lift plan & Risk Assessment; identify the resources required so that the rigging and lifting operation is carried out safely for simple, Complex, heavy and critical lifts

Coaching & mentoring the core and contract rigging team while doing lifting activities to ensure that all lifting activities are performed safely in line with Procedures & Standards.

Shall oversee localisation and competency development of successor core crew with coaching and Mentoring and is properly utilised in Rigging & lifting on the Facility. Is well monitored and recorded for development purpose.

Core Responsibilities

  • • Capacity Assessment of selected cranes and rigging gear, and of various rigging methods, knowledge of equipment maintenance and inspection procedures.
  • • Prepare and analyse Lifting plans, lifting and rigging procedures for all lifting activities performed and when required approve rigging and lifting study / plan Reports, Sketches, Method Statements and Task Risk Assessments
  • • Develop comprehensive lift plans for all categories of lifting operations on the facility (including those for complex lifts).
  • • Ensure safe and efficient operation of rigging and lifting services activities and is in compliance with Contract requirements and Company Policy & Procedures.
  • • Ensure that all rigging and lifting activities are planned and executed as per the requirements of relevant Procedures.
  • • Ensure that all necessary regimes, standards, processes and procedures for the activities associated with lifting and moving of loads are established and are being suitably applied to provide assurance that all lifting operations are properly planned.
  • • Lead and provide interface between core Supervisory staff and contract rigging and lifting crew for routine but diverse rigging duties as part of general maintenance program onboard the FPSO on all Assets.
    • § As required, Plan, supervise and execute heavy and critical lifts as deemed by the critical lift plan(s).
    • § Supervise the Lifting activities performed any Contractor personnel at facilities as advised by O&M team.
    • § Lead the rigging team while doing lifting activities to ensure that all lifting activities are performed safely.
    • • Supervise the Lifting activities performed by the Contractor rigging team for any special project scope onboard.
      • § Provides expert opinion/instructions to Rigging & Lifting Contractors as and when required.
      • • Onsite verification of the requirements of any 3rd party Approved Rigging and Lifting Study Reports, Sketches, Method Statements and Risk Assessments
      • • Review and approve all the lifting plan and procedure submitted by Contractor(s) which include critical and heavy lifting activities.
      • • Ensure that the lifting equipment used in the execution of all lifting activities have the required capacity for the safe execution of the lifting operation.
      • • Vet and ensure that all personnel from the Rigging & Lifting Contractor meet the requirements and are competent enough to execute the lifting operations in a safe manner.
      • • Supervises and coordinates rigging & lifting works according to established procedures, policies and Maintenance programs under the instruction of Facilities Management. Exercise judgment in planning and organising work, deciding immediate priorities, setting standards and checking and accepting work.
      • • Coaching & mentoring of the core and contract rigging team while doing lifting activities to ensure that all lifting activities are performed safely in line with Procedures & Standards.
      • • Shall oversee localization and competency development of successor core crew with coaching and Mentoring and is properly utilized in Rigging & lifting on the Facilities. Coach and provide on the job training for all rigging personnel, particularly trainees, to ensure the progression toward the skill sets required to achieve the required Industry competence standard for the specific role.

      Qualifications & Experience

      Educational Qualification:

      • • Completed Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degrees qualifying certificates in Rigging & Lifting from an Internationally recognized Institution or,
      • • LCP LOLER competent person
      • • Lifting equipment inspector, LEEA LEF LEG LMM 1, 2, 3
      • • C&G/ONC/HND or equivalent Marine or Operations background
      • • Certified by an Approved Certifying Society "Approved Certifying Societies are ABS, BV, DNV, GL, LRS, TUV & Velosi) as a Rigging Specialist

      Certification(s):

      • • Appointed Person & Planning Lifts or Appointed Person (Lifting Operations)
      • • Rigging Loft Management & Lifting Gear Inspection.
      • • OPITO Level 4 Rigging & Lifting
      • • Work at Height
      • • Rigger / Rope Access L2/L3 is very beneficial / but not mandatory
      • • OPITO or Similar Rigging & Lifting Maintenance & Inspections
      • • OPITO Bosiet / UKOOA medical

      Relevant Experience:

      • • A Minimum of +10 Years’ experience in supervisory position handling heavy and critical & complex lift operations in petrochemical, Oil & Gas industry – preferably Offshore Oil and Gas at either Supervisor / Foreman levels
      • • Must have good understanding of Working Procedures, International Standards and Safe & Sound practices pertaining to lifting equipment and cranes.
