Overall Job Purpose

The Gas Turbine Generator Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of gas turbine generators and associated equipment on board the facility. This role ensures the reliable and efficient performance of power generation systems, contributing to the overall safety and productivity of the facility. The range of responsibilities covers the following:

  • • Undertake and conduct first line maintenance activities directed by relevant Discipline Supervisor on the FPSO.
  • • Carry out Preventative maintenance and repair work, shutdowns, isolations, and planned maintenance in accordance with the CMMS ensuring.
  • • Conduct all maintenance related activities to the highest standards.
  • • Ensure all test and inspection routines required by the Planned Maintenance System are completed on time.
  • • Maintain proper records/history and reports are maintained.
  • • Lead by example with the Facility’s plant and machinery safe operation and maintenance culture
  • • Demonstrate knowledge of safety requirements including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policy and instructions.
  • • Carry out training for onboard core crew technicians.
  • • Maintain stock levels for GTG and ensure critical spares are always available.

  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • § Perform routine and preventive maintenance on gas turbine generators and associated equipment.
    • § Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
    • § Conduct inspections, overhauls, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
    • § Replace or repair defective parts, using hand tools and precision instruments.
    • § Raise work orders for corrective maintenance and initiate procurement process for spares.
    • § Support mechanical team when need arises as directed by line Supervisor or Superintendent.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Educational Qualification:

    HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    Certification(s):

    • § City & Guilds (C&G) /National Certificate (ONC) /Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent Mechanical trade or controls background
    • § National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Certificate III Diploma PROCESS ENGINEERING – MECHANICAL
    • § Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ3) – Maintaining Plant and Systems – Mechanical

    Relevant Experience:

    • § 3-5years offshore oil and gas or relevant industry experience.
    • § Rotating Equipment Experience including in depth knowledge gas turbines and associated equipment.
    • § Troubleshooting fuel control systems.
    • § Troubleshooting general control systems including vibration, temperature turbine logic.
    • § Maintenance Management Systems experience.
    • § Maintenance/Production/Marine Operations experience.
    • § Authorised Mechanical isolating authority.
    • § FPSO experience, frontline supervisory experience and/or training.
