Overall Job Purpose
Provides daily and ongoing rotating machinery engineering onshore support to the MODEC Ghana Facility Operations on the FPSOs.
This includes but is not limited to:
Continuously monitoring the performance of all rotating equipment utilizing Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) technologies such as Bently Nevada System 1.
Manage the hand-held vibration monitoring program on assigned FPSOs and generate periodic reports. Maintain an accurate register of all lubricants deployed on the FPSOs and track oil sampling PM schedules and coordinate all intervention activities geared towards ensuring proper lubrication of all systems deployed on FPSO that require lubricants.
Carry out & assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations into rotating machinery related incidents/equipment failures, including recommended preventative actions.
Ensure compliance with Company general specifications & requirements, local legislative & operational requirements.
Pro-actively search, prepare, and deliver follow-up upon cost saving initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide production and operations engineering change support for the rotating machinery including gas turbines, various type of compressors and pumps on production process systems, utility, and marine systems.
- Provide technical support related to rotating machinery to the FPSO systems technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislative requirements.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to determine causes of failures and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Liaise with vendors, sub-contractors & appropriate Technical Authority (TA) to improve equipment performance and deliver operational & project modifications to improve operational efficiency.
- Identify, propose, and manage project (major & minor) scopes as required to support continuous improvement of rotating machinery equipment on FPSO.
- Consult regularly with the Maintenance & Reliability Engineers for all matters related to maintenance and integrity of rotating machinery equipment and report/update on Integrity Management processes, including Safety Critical maintenance execution as required.
- Plan and manage work scopes with Company approved contractors for the facility.
- Direct technicians and contractors to ensure MODEC Production Services Ghana JV Limited (MPSG) objectives and targets are met with regard to budget, safety, risk, quality, and engineering standards.
- Define vibration terminologies, characteristics, transducers and data instruments, signature plots, alarm, and shutdown limits. Conduct basic vibration measurements using spectrum analyzers and portable data acquisition equipment.
- Conduct more advanced vibration measurements e.g., transient data and correlate with other process parameters. Apply basic diagnostics techniques in identifying different types of vibration problems of rotating machineries.
- Analyze vibration data, solve vibration problems, and conduct field balancing.
- Conduct and analyze vibration measurement on piping system.
- Demonstrate application of rotor dynamics, lateral and torsion analysis.
- Describe, analyze, and utilize the Pareto Analysis of downtime, Weibull Analysis, MTBF, preventive and predictive maintenance tools.
- Explain Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) technique and determine the machinery equipment criticality.
- Lead in utilizing Pareto Analysis of downtime, Weibull Analysis, MTBF, preventive and predictive maintenance tools. Utilize Reliability Block Diagram to model equipment reliability.
- Develop and integrate RCFA along with other statistical tools to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
